What a privilege to skipper a Privilege Catamaran again. This time she is a brand new Privilege 445 named Minyga and she is the pride and joy of Liz and Rod. I am to join the boat in Portsmouth where she has been on display at the Multihull Boat Show with the intention of setting sail mid week to cross the channel.
It was a long flight but slept well at the Ibis Hotel in Portsmouth. I was amazed at the Airbus A380-800 … The wing is absolutely huge! The flaps alone would be the size of a 737 wing! It was still light as I was driven from Heathrow to Portsmouth, and I couldn’t help thinking how similar some of the countryside was to some NZ roads I’ve travelled … And then realising that it wasn’t that long ago that Saxons and Norsemen et al had been traversing these same fields.
Ummm … If this is an English summer I’d hate to be here in the winter … It’s bloody cold! It feels like its about 14 degrees C and there’s a “lazy” wind. Rod says they had the Force 7 winds I anticipated, but Minyga handled it all like a champion
